
Wendell Maxey is a freelance sportswriter living abroad in Nuremberg, Germany after spending the past eight years covering the NBA and sports at large in New York City and Portland, Oregon.
A contributing writer for NBA.com and various newspapers in the States, Wendell has also appeared on NBA TV, NBA Radio on SIRIUS and ESPN Radio among other stations and has written on everything from the NBA, to professional football, high school basketball, college football, college basketball, minor league baseball and mixed-martial arts. An active member of the Professional Basketball Writers Association, his writing has been notably featured with ESPN.com Page 2, SLAM Magazine/SLAMonline, USA Today, FOXSports.com, CBSSports.com and NCAA.com, and with stories appearing in the Oregonian, Vancouver Columbian, Reno Gazette-Journal, San Diego Union-Journal, Eugene Register-Guard, The Deseret News, Grand Rapids Press and Worcester Telegram & Gazette among other newspapers.
Wendell is also a featured writer with SB Nation's Ridiculous Upside and CrossoverNBA where he covers overseas basketball, D-League and NBA at large.
A former NBA Senior Writer for HOOPSWORLD, Wendell reported in New York on the Knicks during the Larry Brown and Isiah Thomas era from 2005-'07, and New Jersey with the Nets postseason runs in '06 and '07, before moving back to cover the Portland Trail Blazers and their Rip City revival from 2007 to 2011.
In September 2011, he traveled to the European Championship -- commonly known as EuroBasket -- in Vilnius and Kaunas, Lithuania and produced a 10-feature series for NBA.com.
